I studied bachelor’s degree in communication and have worked in different countries within multidisciplined workplaces. As a Turkish migrant, moving to Australia in 2017 revealed my passion for helping individuals with CALD backgrounds; therefore, I decided to study Community Services at TAFESA and complete my course in 2021. During my study, I have volunteered in different organisations where I crossed paths with inspirational individuals and embarked on fantastic training opportunities. Wearing different hats,  I am an active member of the Turkish community in Adelaide, working with numerous volunteers within my community to organise community events and development projects. I have been working for MarionLIFE for the last twelve months, where I can use my volunteering background and leverage my skills learned from lived experience. I like my role, where I can lend a helping hand to others who ask for my assistance, including being the first point of contact for volunteer applicants. As a humanitarian, I believe in solidarity and rising by lifting others is a treasured learning we ever experience in life.

MarionLIFE Community Services is a not-for-profit community organisation that strives to provide meaningful, flexible and responsive care, support and pathways to individuals and families in need.

The provision of crisis assistance is important to meet people’s most basic human needs and their ongoing involvement in the community is of equal importance to rebuild confidence and develop lasting community relationships and supports. This is one reason MarionLIFE offers a variety of support groups, a community garden, men’s groups, community meals, financial counselling and community education courses on top of emergency relief food and material assistance.
