My name is Elisa (EJ) Curtis and I am the volunteer Coordinator at Treasure Boxes. I started my journey at Treasure Boxes as a volunteer. After volunteering for 18 months, I applied and was successful in starting my role as the Volunteer Coordinator.
I love working with people and I am very social. After spending a year in this role I enjoy helping volunteers to feel comfortable in their journey and watching them thrive in new roles outside of their comfort zone.
Being an inclusive volunteer leader is easy. You must have an open heart and an open mind. Everyone has something to offer – find someone’s strength and work from there.
Treasure Boxes is a South Australian children’s not-for-profit. We provide vital essentials to babies, children and teens living in disadvantage in our community.
When poverty, homelessness and domestic violence create an uncertain, sometimes dangerous home environment, many South Australian families struggle to provide their kids with the essentials of life; bedding, clothes, toys, even regular meals.
